Michala Benešová studied Polish studies and Czech Language and Literature at the Faculty of Arts at Charles University. She has been teaching at the Department of Central European Studies since 2011. She focuses on the history of Polish literature. Her research interests include Polish literature of the interwar period, the phenomenon of Polish literary reportage and the reflection of the Jewish cultural tradition of Polish literature in the 20th century. Another of her fields of expertise is Polish-Czech translation, as she also works as a translator. Until recently, she was a member of the expert board of the Prague Centre for Jewish Studies, based at Charles University. She is currently participating in the work for the Centre for Collective Memory Research of Charles University.
