Prof. Dr. Christiane Brosius teaches Visual and Media anthropology at the Heidelberg Centre for Transcultural Studies (HCTS). Her research focus are art production, urban transformation and cultural heritage in South Asia, mainly Delhi in North India and Katmandu Valley in Nepal. Brosius heads the Nepal Heritage Documentation Project (NHDP) with Prof. Dr. Axel Michaels (Heidelberg Academy of Sciences) and is Speaker of the Flagship Initiative Transforming Cultural Heritage. With Sumathi Ramaswamy (Durham, USA) and Yousuf Saeed (Delhi), she runs the interdisciplinary digital Platform on Visual Popular Culture of South Asia: “Tasveerghar, the House of Pictures”.
